We started collecting butterflies…here is my first one. Its mounted in a clear box that you hang on your wall. It was set by an artist. We bought it right from the butterfly house in KeyWest. It’s hard to see in this shot, but on the bottom half of the top right and left wings, it has fur. Literally, raised brown fir like a cat. Amazing!
Update: (Yes, they wait for them to naturally die before they are mounted..they are not prematurely killed…they live out a full and happy life in a beautiful butterfly garden, wild and free, and then are collected for display after their lives are over….which is only 10 days.)

Those really look amazing in person. If you are really into butterflies and you get a chance, head over to Butterfly World in Coconut Creek, FL. They are the largest butterfly house in the US. It was absolutely amazing and we loved it as much as the kids. It’s a photographer’s dream.
If you like butterflies in lucite, go there and bring your checkbook.

Absolutely gorgeous! I am passionate about butterlies and have been collecting butterfly everything for years. My mom actually bought some for me in Brazil (like yours) and I have them hanging on my walls. Hopefully you will continue to add to your collection and post the pics!

That’s a really amazingly beautiful butterfly. Gorgeous! But a stuffed and/or mounted anything that used to be alive hanging on a wall gives me the creepie geebies. Sorry.
