Damn Chicken Nuggets
Please link us on your WW wed this week as other places to link up!
I know, I know…your sick of my fire talk. And this wed wont be wordless.
There is nothing worse though then having a fire in your home and being a part of it. It was a few weeks after Christmas last year that we had a fire and it truly did change a lot of things for us. I think fires around Christmas time are so common. Not only is there more cooking going on, and people are distracted with family around, but there are lights being left on, Christmas trees, candles, and fingers.
So here is your safety message from me. You MUST Have a fire extinguisher. KNOW where it is. That was one of my downfalls. I assumed I knew and I did not when the time came. I thought it was under the sink and it was actually behind the door in the kitchen on the wall. This is especially true for apartments because you didn’t place it most likely. FIND IT. Show your family too. And a tip from me is do not put it under the sink. In my case, when the kitchen was on fire, getting under the sink pretty much became impossible in seconds. The damage you see on my video happened in under 4 minutes. You cant smell it, but it was unbearable.
You should have a CO detector. Its a deadly, silent killer. Do not put off things that can save your family. Over the last two weeks, carbon monoxide has killed 8 people and poisoned more than 50 others in the US. These incidents highlight the increased threat of CO poisoning as weather turns colder, and the significant impact this recession could have. A CO alarm costs about the same as a new DVD or a couple of movie tickets.
One more thing, have a FIRE plan in your home. If you have a 2 story home, talk with your kids about getting out, about what fires are, about where you will meet in your home, about smoke inhalation, and practice.About not touching the stove, playing with candles, or matches. It sounds cliche, but each child should know and each family should be a part of it together.
