thats so scary- its a really important to be prepared and know where your fire extinguisher is- happended to my cousin once, but thankfully her hubby was homea nd put it out before it got too crazy

How scary! Thanks for the info we have no fire extinguisher and NO fire alarms! I never even realized we didn't until I saw a reminder to change batteries and looked around and saw we didn't have any to change! Our heater wen out this week and the HVAC guy wouldn't hook it up because of something with the gas line so now Im all paranoid about CO2 poisoning! My biggest fear is fire. We live in a house that was built in 1817, so I make sure I'm extra careful about candles, etc., but you just never know when it might happen to you. Thanks for the tips, we need to get new fire extinguishers, ours are about 6 years old (and I bet they won't work if we needed them to!) Stacy’s last blog post..Wordless Wednesday

Molly and I were just having this conversation the other day. She and I were working on an emergency plan. We were talking about fears and my biggest is a house fire. So she asked me what we would do if there ever was one. WE started then and there to work it out. Fires terrify me. This is a great post and I agree that they seem to happen more often in the winter. My grandparents house burnt to the ground last Spring and it was so awful. 50 years of marriage gone overnight…..everything!

Thanks for posting this, I just purchased the CO detector and smoke alarm combo pack for $24, shipped free! The CO detector is something I should have gotten a long time ago, I just kept forgetting. OMG that is super scary. I can't believe how much damage that fire did in 4 minutes. You made some excellent points in making sure detectors are installed and working as well as the fire extinguisher. I keep my extinguisher under a cabinet in the kitchen but you make a good point in moving it to a better location. I will be looking around my apartment tonight for a new home for it. and if water happened on a grease fire, it would explode. In fact, the fire above is a Grease fire. It was because water hit it that it blew up. A fireball went THROUGH my kitchen because condensation fell into the grease. If someone had been in there, they would have been engulfed.
