Yes, as a matter of fact i DO blog for traffic.

This morning a pingback came through from some anonymous blogger that attacks other bloggers..you know, like the whole Poop on Peeps thing. For awhile I have wondered why I haven’t made Poop On Peeps. I mean, PR blackout, fat kid in airport, thongs, big fight with Jessica Gottlieb that made me quit twitter (we made up), kids in bikinis, douche-bag name calling, public outburst with General Mills….hello.

What does a girl have to blog around here to get some attention.

Anyway, the article was about how I blogged about kids in thongs “just for the traffic” and she connected that post and some update blog posts on my site regarding it.

Its a shame she didn’t connect it a year ago when I wrote it, but hey, Ill take what I can get, right?

The truth is, I DO blog for traffic. That’s not an insult, that’s the truth and I accept it.  The entire blogosphere is in a constant quest for comments, interaction, speaker roles, travel invites, links, and page views.

Everyone is.

That is why people run parties and reviews and giveaways and stress over statistics and twitter followers. You think we do this crap for fun? Anyone who thinks that has clearly never been a full time blogger.

People who write for themselves, journal.

People who write for everyone else, blog.

Whether its due to ads, quest of Internet fame, or just to have your voice heard, whatever your role is, claim it.

2 years ago I may have been offended. I may have jumped up and said OMG, I did NOT write that article for traffic. Because at the time, as a newer blogger, I was in shock over the situation and I really wanted to debate it and share it. I was so freaking ignorant. People don’t know how to debate and share opinions…ahh, I have learned so much.

But it turned into traffic.

Real life situations have a way of interesting people and after all, its not me pushing topics onto society, it’s society looking it up. We all have an opinion and I often provide an avenue to discuss those opinions. The irony is I get blogged about a lot…for traffic. Chew on that for a minute.

So this is my public statement so you no longer have to spit insults at me by stating I blogged about *fill in past, present or future topic* for traffic.

Yes. Yes, I do. And did. And will.

Have a nice day.

~Trisha

I guess you closed comments on the Corey Haim post. I, again, am amazed at how freakin’ hilarious you are… not only in your posts, but also in your reactions to others’ comments. You go girl!

  2. Amber says:

I find when I blog about that stinky Rob Pattinson that I get more traffic. Even though he creeps me out I’ll sometimes throw his name in randomly because I find I get at least 50 more viewers that day when I do.

  3. I think it’s really cool that she is putting all kinds of links to your blog in her post and pointing out them to send you even MORE Traffic. VERY Nice of her. Shit how else are you suppose to reach blog fame! Wooo whooo. I blog for traffic too.
IN Fact I made over my blog and I think everyone should come look at it.

NOW EVERYONE COME VISIT ME AND LEAVE ME SOME COMMENTS TOO!!

  4. Miss Blondie says:

I proudly blog for traffic…not that I get much. Oh and comments, i blog for comments. I want people to read what I’m writing, if people aren’t reading my posts I get bummed.

  5. Brittany says:

I can see both sides (the argument of the picture) MINUS the you are an asshole piece of shit motherfucker part. That part baffled me. BUT we all blog for traffic yes. Except me. I blog for sex.

  6. Seriously, who doesn’t blog for traffic? I mean there can be other reasons but if traffic isn’t one of them, what the heck are you blogging for?

  7. Tammy says:

Of course you blog for traffic. It is obviously your job and to earn money you need traffic. I certainly get it. But when does it cross the line? I mean seriously. You posted a picture of someone elses child with their underwear showing. You knowingly left it there even when you discovered it was being viewed by perverts getting their jollies….all to earn money.
I wonder how you would feel if you found a picture on someone elses site (that you don’t even know) of your child..

    • Trisha-admin says:

actually, 14 MONTHS ago when I wrote that article, I didnt make a dime off of this blog. In fact, i deleted every perverted comment that came along..but then somewhere along the line I decided it was interesting and that by letting the comments through, people could decide on their own if those type of people really exist.

But that article is so old I dont even go to it anymore..i see comments come through and thats it. I think for a bit people fought it out in the comments without me.

Cause honestly, most people say oh no, bikinis, makeup, etc its all great, no one is checking out thier kids.

Its not ME looking it up, its other people. I came upon a situation, I posted it.

This is real life, whether people like it or not. Hopefully other parents will see it, whether they agree or disagree, will realize that everyone on the face of the planet owns an iphone and is taking a picture of you..your kid..your husband..your license plate. Time to make some tough decisions.

“traffic” was a side effect, over time, of that blog post as the result of society, not of me. This post, which btw is NOT my highest traffic post on the site. I didnt bring this INTO the world, it was there.

But i have over 2500 blog posts here..that is one in 2500…and hardly the most opinionated.

But you have a picture of someone elses child in their underwear on YOUR blog. I get that you originally posted the blog as a discussion point and I think it was a good one. Like QB said, the topic definately needs to be discussed but the picture just takes it a tad over the line. Again, that is someones child and you are aiding and abetting, god knows, how many pervs.
I mentioned this in the comments on bitch sessions but I have to wonder if this doesn’t have legal ramifications. With some of these teens getting jail time for texting pics of their girlfriends and being prosecuted for distribution of child porn, I can’t help but wonder if something like this could be interpreted as the same kind of thing.
There is another question that noone has asked yet…given the controversy and obvious upset, why haven’t you taken the picture off? Do you not think that some of the commenters have a point?

        • Trisha-admin says:

Tammy, thats just pushing what it really is. Its NOT porn. Not even close. The picture doesnt even show as much as a swimsuit. It shows 2 strings hanging out of the back of pants…in fact, if you relook, you will see its on her back, not her butt.

Its an illusion. People know what it is…but you dont actually SEE what it is. In fact, I see more skin in a walmart ad.

People think its wrong because its shocking. Its shocking to consider period. Whether its hanging out of pants or on a public beach.

I was shocked to SEE it. But i dont like toddlers in bikinis or makeup on 6 year olds unless its their birthday.

But the picture is legal. Its legal per copyright and all photography laws.

And I hate to say it, but would it be a topic at ALL if I hadn’t proven that it was in existence? This is a blog…i blog real life. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, some days charities, some days just plain old Charlotte tying her shoes, some days controversy, some days reality TV. There is no rhyme or reason, it just is.

This is the first post that has mentioned it in 14 months..seriously. Its so old its weird to even talk about. Im not even passionate about it enough to really get riled up period. If i removed things every one got offended at or were scared of or didn’t have an opinion about, then whats the point in writing at all? I cant even take a blog post seriously that was this late on the draw.

I get accused of blogging for traffic (which i freely admit to) but what about the person who wrote about a topic that is over a year old…to get what…traffic? People riled up? Kettle…pot…nice to meet you.

I don’t choose to blog politically correct. People know that about me in my community. Sometimes they like what I have to say..sometimes they dont. Its pretty fickle. We generally get along though. I don’t judge those that share my opinions or dont share them. I have friends that are christian bloggers and review bloggers and deal bloggers and controversial bloggers. I enjoy all types of opinions.

But the power is in the hands of the people…don’t blog me, don’t link me, don’t show up, don’t send people…..my traffic dies, my blog sees no people. I didn’t even resurrect this post…someone else did. It was odd actually. Funny…but odd.

Its a sad, sad state, but have you even looked at 12 year olds at the mall lately? They are sexier then I was at 21. Maybe I need to blog about that.

Anyhoo…the point was, the discussion was fine…people show up, leave a comment, don’t leave a comment, whatever. I think we are afraid of our little girls growing up too fast and I hit the hot button cause I was able to prove it. No one wants to know its real. Like we really HAVE to face it.

          I’m just the messenger.

  8. Traffic is of course something I WANT! Great post :)

  9. Tricia says:

Ha, read it. She is NO Chicken Liver, but she sure is trying to get popular by trying to use CL’s style. CL had a way of saying things that got you all fired up, QB puts you to sleep. Gah.

She’s blogging for traffic, not for any other reason.

Over an year old entry! Talk about late to the party, and flogging a dead horse.

  10. Michelle says:

You’re right on as usual Trisha! Keep it up. Everyone blogs for traffic. Why post your thoughts and ideas, etc. if you don’t want other people to read them? Everything a blogger types is meant to be read, every reader is traffic, its the circle of the blogosphere.

    • Trisha-admin says:

Yes, i blog for me…cause you know, i MUST write down what i did today in case i forgot. Or charlotte wanted to know on march 10th what she ate for dinner.

Maybe i should try to be boring.

  11. Nicole says:

Like you said, unless someone is blogging purely to keep a journal, they’re blogging for traffic. If they’re not, then they need to really re-evaluate their goals for their blog. Your latest post today (on Corey Haim) has inspired me to do a little experiment on my blog for tomorrow.
