Happy Birthday Breyers
Can you believe its been 150 years since Breyers was founded in Philadelphia? Back in 1866 when William A. Breyer hand-cranked his first gallon of ice cream, featuring fresh fruits and nuts, everyone was hooked. The beginning of an era started and now here we are today enjoying Breyers in the comfort of our homes. Breyers is committed to high-quality ingredients – a promise that has been on Breyers packages for more than 100 years.
In my house, vanilla reigns supreme.
No matter how many other flavors come and go, there is nothing like the smooth taste of Breyers Natural Vanilla and it’s always in my freezer! Why? Because Breyers Natural Vanilla is made with fresh cream, milk, and sugar and it’s evident in every delicious bite. It’s no surprise that Breyers Natural Vanilla is America’s No. 1 vanilla ice cream! All Breyers vanilla is real and from sustainably farmed, Rainforest Alliance Certified™ vanilla beans. Plus Breyers only sources milk and cream from cows not treated with artificial growth hormones*.
This year, in celebration of Breyers 150th birthday, they have partnered with Chef Curtis stone and his wife to create 12 amazing recipes featuring Natural Vanilla. Bringing in inspiration from all the seasons, these recipes give our old favorites a fresh new perspective.
One such recipe, spice roasted figs with hazelnuts and vanilla ice cream, was our recipe to recreate here on MomDot and I am so excited to share it with you!

- 1/2 tsp. each ground cinnamon, ground ginger
- 1/8 tsp. ground cloves
- 8 ripe figs, halved lengthwise
- 1 1/3 cups Breyers® Natural Vanilla Ice Cream
- 1/4 cup blanched hazelnuts, toasted, coarsely chopped
INSTRUCTIONS

Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil.
In a small bowl, mix sugar and spices.
One at a time, dip figs, cut side down, in sugar mixture to coat.
Then coat figs a second time with sugar mixture and arrange cut side up on baking sheet.
Broil figs, watching closely, for about 4 minutes, or until sugar melts and begins to caramelize and figs soften slightly and begin to ooze their juice.
- Divide figs among 4 bowls. Spoon 1/3 cup of Breyers® Natural Vanilla Ice Cream into each bowl and sprinkle with hazelnuts.
This upcoming weekend is Phoenyx’s birthday and what will be along side the cake? Breyers! I am all stocked up and ready to enjoy every last bite. Want to learn more bout this recipe and more? Head over and visit them on Pinterest , Twitter, and Facebook.
