Christmas Deviled Eggs that WOW

A few years ago we made these beautiful Dyed Deviled eggs for Easter and I had quite forgotten about them.

Till this week.

Christmas Eggs: Beautiful the Holiday Table with Red and Green Dyed Deviled eggs

I had purchased some food dye for icing and it was laying on the counter. I don’t know how memories worked, but I walked by and a spark went off. I decided to rush boil some eggs (and a few extra to eat as I create- I have no shame) and create Dyed Christmas Eggs instead!

Now I know there will be someone out there chastising me for using food dye.

If you prefer to use other forms to purchase your eggs for the same idea, have at it. I fully support creativity in every form, organic and otherwise. This is just to serve as inspiration in however you bring it into your family.

Perfect Hard Boiled Eggs

I LOVE making deviled eggs but I do not love the whole process of boiling water and timing the eggs out perfectly to de-shell them. This Egg Cooker has made it nearly impossible to mess up boiled eggs. You can easily add your 7 eggs, it hard boils them and shuts off when done!

No monitoring, no mess, and you can cycle through as many as you need for your holidays.

This is NOT a product that you buy and it goes under your cabinet….its one you will love so much that making egg salad sandwiches won’t just be for holidays anymore.

A MUST HAVE.

Deviled Christmas Eggs

You will need

  • eggs already boiled
  • vinegar
  • water
  • food dye (or whatever you use- KoolAid may work too BUT I take no responsibility if your deviled eggs taste like candy)

Instructions to dye your deviled eggs

1) I didn’t have any Easter Egg dye from last year, but I did have food dye. If you want really specific or bright colors, you can hit up the food dye section at a craft store, but I just have regular old 4 pack primary kit from Target.

I prepped the food dye by following the box, but it was 1 tsp white vinegar and a half cup of HOT water.

2) Cut your eggs in half and remove yokes. You can prep those anyway you like. I like mine with Hellmanns.

Also the reason my eggs yolks are so runny in these shots is because I may have accidentally eaten more yokes than eggs.

3) Add your already boiled egg whites into the dye mixture, leave for approx 3 minutes and then rotate up.

Once your eggs have the desired color, remove and pat dry with napkin. Now if you find that your dye isn’t the color you want, I have to tell you that you can put a little on your finger (or a clean paintbrush), rub on the outside of the boiled shell and sit it down for about a minute.

Then rinse off any excess. That is how I got this REALLY bright color for photos.
