When it comes to Valentines Day cards there really are some great options out there. From this “I Like you Berry much” creative idea to this Homemade Valentines Crayon Art, if you are willing to invest the time, you can send a super special extra treat your kids can be proud of.
But in our house…let’s just say mom is lame.
So I am going to teach out how to take plain old construction paper hearts, write a cute message (yes, with a basic crayon), fold and create a handmade little envelope with it. Btw, this craft project will forever be known as the “craft that Charlotte used hot pink permanent marker that bleed through the paper onto my cream table.”
How to create an Envelope with a Heart
What you need
- Construction Paper
- Double sided tape OR cute little stickers
- scissors
Instructions
Fold your paper in half
Cut out a big wide heart
Write loving message. For those that dont remember what “writing” is, its done with actual utensils …..not a phone.
Fold in the sides
Fold down and flip so the point of your heart is at the top
(can be done in little version or big version!)
Fold point down and secure in place
Cute, right? And hopefully you have all these materials at home to handmake some valentines.
No offense to people that want to buy 21 boxes of cereal to send to school.

So cute! My son would love making these.
How cute! and even the littlest kids will be able to do it. Thanks.
Oh now those are cute! I love how even my 3yr old would have fun with these!
I love that it is adorable, but easy enough that my kids could make them themselves!
Oh how adorable! I put notes in lunches daily and am going to start adding these in occasionally!
Cute idea and something the kids can easily manage.
Super cute! In fact, I am designing a Valentine for my daughter’s class, and this would be the perfect envelope to put it in… Ohhhhh I am so going to do that!
These are really cute and simple. I think my 6 year old would love doing then this year since she has been into paper folding lately.
Perfect for homemade valentines 🙂
Adorable and simple! Just how I like my crafts!
My girls love to make these! In fact thanks for reminding me to remind them!!!
Fun! My 6 year old will love to fold hearts. Thanks for sharing!
I’m a “lame” not-so-crafty kind of mom, so this is perfect for me! And I think I’m going to do this here soon, and make up 28 of them to put in my son’s lunch bag each day next month. 🙂
So cute! What a great idea for Valentine’s day
Thank you for the step by step pictures – I am awful at crafts and can’t just follow text directions. Love this idea so much, I think I will have my kids write notes to their teachers on the hearts.
This is my type of craft, super simple and easy to follow. I’m going to make some up!
Love this idea! It would be great for backpacks or love notes to the hubby 😉
This is a great idea! This would be super cute for love notes left in lunches, too!
