Last time we talked about tattoo quotes, I found that so many actually have them! I think tattoo quotes can be one of the most unique tattoos you can get because you can truly voice words and opinions. My only question is…what if your ideas change and you are stuck with a tattoo that no longer applies to your ideals?
Iย have a confession…back in college I almost got a tattoo on spring break.
I suppose that is what everyone does. The old spring break tattoo. I had considered….a frog. A tree frog. I kinda laugh now thinking about me being 33 with a tree frog from my 19 year old self sitting on my shoulder. I am really glad I waited.
I am actually considering a tattoo now, but still trying to decide. Quotes are one of my favorite ideas, but I was also thinking of doing my children’s DNA strand around my wrist. I noticed this morning that someone online had their binary code, which was also cool.
Here is a new selection of tattoo quotes to check out…

I just wanted to let you know that my one and only tattoo is a tree frog that I got on the back of my right shoulder as a 19 year old college student! Now I’m 38 and, yup, that frog is still right there! My kids sometimes pretend they can take him off my back and play with him. Then they kiss the imaginary frog and put him back on my shoulder. I just thought it was pretty funny that you almost goy my tattoo!!! No, I don’t really regret it. It’s a token of my foolish youth. But I’ve never rushed to get any more tattoos either!
Karla,
I love that you got my infamous non tattoo! I love even more that you still enjoy it. ๐
I currently have the tattoos. I want about three more as well. I can honestly say that I do not regret any of mine, not will I regret the last three I intend to get. My first is an umbrella with rain coming down in it and the words “let the rain pour” over it, and “r.i.p. Wesley” under it. It was for my fiancรฉe who passed two weeks before he turned twenty in an ATV accident, and we buried him on my 18th birthday. Umbrella by Rhianna was the song he insisted was ours and it only made sense after he pissed. (considering that type of music was nit something he usually enjoyed and would have considered it”lame and girly”.
My second was a quote that reads “if pain causes strength, I could move mountains.” Which was something I felt was meant four me. A reminder to myself that my strength comes from the struggle I have overcome and at the time, that struggle seemed worse than any but it was just another hurdle to prepare me four the next struggle. And also a reminder that God has a plan, and because of the one he chose for me I am stronger than most people could imagine being.
My third is simple, my sister and I both have the word “promise” on the sides of our pinky. She is my best friend and sister, and nothing is stronger than the oath of a pinky promise.
I Don’t Have a tattoo, yet .
but i really want one .. people have told me that its really painful !
& me and my bestfriend since i was like 7 want matching ones, but we’ve hadnt decieded on one .. anyone have any suggestions ??
p.s im terrified of needles : (
It’s really not as bad as people make it out to be. I’m HORRIFIED of needles, (like…having full-blown I’m-seeing-dots-and-shaking-and-crying-uncontrollably-and-having-abnormal-breathing-patterns-about-to-pass-out panic attacks horrified of needles) but I looked around and found a shop/artist that made me feel comfortable and from the start of the process I was told that it was okay to ask him to stop for a bit if the pain was too much. The best place for a first tattoo is a place with a lot of flesh/muscle. The closer it is to a bone, the more it will hurt (i.e., the spine, ankles, etc.) My first tattoo was on my left shoulder blade, and it’s quite big. The were a couple points where the pain was a little intense, (around the edges of the blade where there wasn’t much protecting the bone below the skin) but as long as you stay relaxed, it really isn’t that bad. And trust me, you’re going to feel so amazing when it’s done~!! ๐
Just don’t settle~!! Look around your town. Find a FRIENDLY artist that has a GREAT portfolio. And if you can, find one that charges per tattoo, rather than by-the-hour. A lot of shops prefer an hourly fee, but you’ll rack up a pretty high bill with some of those guys. Like I said, mine’s pretty big (it’s the Kanjii symbol for love), and it only took the artist forty-five minutes to complete it. He also gave me free touch-ups whenever I want them. Just look around~!! Good luck, and I hope this helped~!! ๐
I have seven tattoos, half of them being quotes. I have my son’s footprints between my shoulders; “You only accept the love you think you deserve” on my right ribcage; a tribal owl on a cherry blossom crescent moon on my left ribcage; a puzzle piece (my missing piece) on my left front hip; a lady bug (I call my sister Lady Bug) on my lower back, right side; “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything” going down my spine; and “Follow your heart <3" underneath my left breast.
I have the Latin phrase “Aut Viem Inveniam Aut Faciam” which roughly translates to “I’ll either find a path, or I’ll make one.” I got it after my husband and I divorced and I finally got to a point that I was financially stable and could support myself and our two children on my own. It was empowering and I needed to mark that. I also have a couple butterflies to symbolize the changing points in my life (graduation, moving out of parents, getting divorced, etc…) I regret none of them, except the location of my second (the wonderful “tramp stamp”).
For my most recent tattoo, I got the words ‘No Day But Today’ from the musical on my lower, inner part of my arm.. Going up my arm. I ADORE it still, years later & can never see a day when I won’t love it. It means so many things to me. RENT was the first musical I ever saw at 9 years old with my mom and sister. I’ve traveled to different states to see it with family members and close friends. RENT alone carries so many happy memories for me. But, the saying itself inspires me too. No day but today.. Many of the characters in the play had aids and were dying but they still tried to be happy…. Although they had nothing. My tattoo reminds me of my many blessings… ๐ and makes me think of happy memories with those I love most!
I have 8 tattoos so far and I’m planning 2 more in the spring. I am going to get an Alice In Wonderland charm bracelet around my right ankle (the charms being my favorite rendering of my favorite character). I am also going to get ‘”My nucleus is strong, I’m going to be ok” on the inside of my left wrist. My nucleus being my immediate family (my husband, daughter and myself). I have suffered from depression most my life and when I am having a particularly bad day, I say that over and over to myself to try to hold on. Realizing that no matter what hell is going on inside me or around me, as long as My family is strong, I can handle it. Having it on my wrist will put it right at eye level, giving me strength on those days when all I can do is sit with my head in my hands.
i got my first tattoo on my 18th birthday. it was a present from my boyfriend at the time. its a pink bow on my hip bone that represents moving on from my youth and turning 18. bows represent remembrance of things like a bow tied around your finger to not forget to do something. that’s also what my pink bow represents is to never forget the joy of being a child. i have a second tattoo that i got on Veterans day 2011 or 11/11/11. it is the words always carry happiness on my ribs surrounded by small fireworks. this tattoo is a reminder to myself to always be happy even when the hardest of times come in your life. at the time i was struggling with some issues that consumed my life. even going though the lows i manage to stay happy at all times and never let depression get the best of me. this tattoo is not only a reminder for me i encourage all of my friends to do the same and always carry happiness.
I got my first tattoo at 17, on my chest of a small heart wearing headphones. It was a design I drew when I was 13 when decided I wanted a tattoo. For 4 years after my parents saw my unwavering change in wanting it &, knowing I was so set on what I wanted, it was decided it would be a birthday gift. I’ve since had it altered a bit to look more adult, & I have a sleeve of music related things, from album designs to a bass guitar. All tied together in a beautiful scene of plant life. Music has saved me more times than I can count. I’ll never regret my art.
I have two tattoos, I am 18 years old. I have an anchor for my mother who served in the navy and “serenity” on my ribs. I got them both in the past year. I love them to death but I could not get them anywhere visable. I love tattoos if they are in the right spot and have meaning
I got my first tattoo, “Jesus loves me, this I know…” on my left forearm, when I was fifteen. I don’t regret it one bit, as it has reminded me countless times that I still have Christ, even if I have nothing else. I have plans to get another tattoo for a friend that passed away, and “be kind” on my right wrist.
I got a large sun on my ribs this April at 18 and haven’t regretted it at all. I love it and every time I see it, it makes me smile. Sunshine is my nickname so it’s very personal. I can’t wait to get a quote on my other side ๐
I have two tattoos. I got the first one when I was 18 on my hip that says “Just Breathe” and I got my second one when I was 19 on my foot that says “This too shall pass”. I dont regret them at all. They hold a lot of meaning to me and they will always mean something to me no matter what. I think if your tattoo has enough meaning you wont regret it.
I got my first tattoo of the word love and a cross at the end of it on my hip. It has alot of meaning to me because it reminds me to love christ. I want another one on my ribs, i want it to have wings then within it say “she flies with her own wings” in latin. I want that because i recently went through the traumatic experience of loosing my father last summer and then the falling apart of my family. Some things happend but the best but i thought the quote would remind me to be strong throughout the rest of my life and fly with my own wings and no anyone elses
I have two tattoos; both with words. My first tattoo I got was when I was 19. It is on my ribs and says “give me the strength”. The second tattoo I have I got when I was 20 and it is the logo of I place I volunteered at in Africa with the phrase “find yourself in the silence” in german. Both of my tattoos have extreme meaning to me and I don’t have any regret about getting them!
I don’t have a tattoo, yet.
But I really want to get a Mickey Mouse one somewhere on my chest – where it can be covered when I get dressed up. And I’d love a celtic knot design around my ankle. I’m really scared of the pain, which is kind-of strange because I am in pain every day of my life – weird, huh?
