In the past I have spent far too long coming up with a totally fabulous buttercream frosting recipe that has ended up in a bag of sugar gone and something that tastes like glue, but not here! If you too are plagued with frosting recipes that fail, you must try this.
If you can measure and pour, you are in!
- 3/4 cup I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spread
- 6 cups confectioners sugar
- TIP: Add Vanilla Extract to flavor
How to Make Buttercream Frosting
For 2-ingredient frosting, beat I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter in a medium bowl with an electric mixer until light and creamy, about 2-3 minutes. The fluffier the spread, the better your frosting will be.
Gradually add confectioners sugar and beat on low speed until blended.
If you want it a little thicker, add a little more sugar. You can add a little vanilla too for a more traditional frosting flavor, but you certainly don’t have to!

FAQs
Q: Can I use real butter instead of I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter?
A: Yes, you certainly can. The texture will be a bit different. The ICBINB whips up really nicely. Just keep whipping the real butter until it’s nice and fluffy. That’s the key to super good buttercream of any kind.
Now that is super easy to make! I’m going to have to make my own frosting the next time I bake!
