Concrete Paver Art

A few weeks ago when we were fixing up the pond (if you missed it, DIY pond tutorial Apple Barrel Acrylic Paint Set, 18 PieceApple Barrel Acrylic Paint Set, 18 Piecehere) and had some extra pavers. We used these to help support the top of the pond and create a barrier between the AWFUL red sand and the actual water. The thing is, we bought way too many and I have this pile sitting by the front door. It’s not enough to run back to the store, like 10 of them, so we decided to instead use them in another way- concrete paver art!

Concrete pavers are cheap, anywhere from .50 cents to $2 a paver (cheaper than canvas honestly!) and the kids spent an afternoon painting them for garden stones. Now, as you can see, we did not use water proof paint. Basically, the kids just grabbed regular paint and went outside, but if you are planning to use these stones for the garden, you are going to want to make sure you use paint that won’t come off with rain or at least seal the pavers at the end.

Typically I would recommend an acrylic paint and then use a sealer, which would ensure the best results for a long time.

They would also make adorable stepping stones, house number announcements, and family names. Plus, as concrete, they are going to last a very long time!
