DIY Colored Soap Foam for Foam Party with Bubbles

by trisha haas

Today I wanted to bring you a really fun and easy parenting project that keeps kids busy for hours and can be used in a variety of ways: Rainbow Soap Foam. This project takes only 3 ingredients and you can customize to fit your particular needs. Whether you are picking rainbow colored foam or getting your holiday on with Halloween colors, this project is easy to make and easy to clean (after all- its main ingredient is soap!).

DIY Colored Soap Foam

How to make rainbow soap foam bubbles

There are a lot of ways to use soap and incorporating soap and playtime together is just GOOD CLEAN FUN! (See what I did there?)

to get started on your own DIY colored soap foam fun, you will need:

  • Water
  • Palmolive Soap
  • Food coloring

Because these ingredients are not that messy, this is a great one to have the kids participate in!

Add half a cup of cold water into your blender.pouring soap

Then add 4 TBSP of Palmolive Soap (I used the Original Brand kind)

Put in some drops of food coloring.palmolive soap

You can choose to lower this recipe to 1/4th cp water and 2 TBSP of soap if you choose depending on your project.

Turn the blender on for approx 2 minutes.

The longer your soap mixes the more stiff the foam becomes so its easier to play with.

WOW! SOAP FOAM~! We made three colors, green, pink and orange.

Pour your colored soap into a sensory bin, paper plates, bowls or jars (as we did here).

You can even layer your foam!

Now you are asking me- what do I do with it?

PLAYTIME!

Its fun to make designs on plates and practice scooping foam into bowls and measuring cups, but my kids decided to use it to have a fun car and horse wash. We took all our foam outside with water, spoons, and rags.

This looks like so much fun. I never thought about using colored foam soap for so much fun with the kids. Thanks for this idea! I would much rather my youngest do this than use his sisters acrylic paint.

I’m literally laughing at loud at the photo of your kids holding their ears. I had no idea of how many things you can do with Palmolive beyond excellent dish cleaning. I need to think outside of the box.

I was thinking giant bubble makers as soon as I saw it. We’d put it in a kiddie pool and use the hula hoops to make big bubbles. 🙂
