DOLE Fruit Squish’ems – GMO Free, Gluten Free, and No Corn Syrup!

Ooh, one week left of school and then summer vacation! I love summer, so much less to do…or rather so much less HOMEWORK to do. I foolishly thought that when I got out of my own education I would not have to do science projects or calculate why someone purchased 49 apples in a day, but I was wrong. Now my frustrations just lead to my daughters frustrations.

Which is why I am so ready for summer.

Now when it comes to getting active, we are that family. We are out every day, every  night and Charlotte is in horseback riding so weekends too. P is still a bit young for team sports but we are prepping him in the backyard for his future.

Like last weeks slip and slide Olympics in our backyard.

But being outside in the summer sun, even in the late part of the day, can suck it out of you.

And so can sports of all kinds! As I mentioned earlier and you know if you follow me already, Charlotte is a horseback rider. This weekend she had a double lesson which means about 4-5 hours on the farm. She loves it…but every single time she is done she tells me she is STARVING. Like can’t make it home in 15 minutes or she will D.I.E. if she doesn’t eat immediately.

So when Dole asked me to check out their new Fruit Squish’ems and share with you all, I said sure! The truth is I had already picked them and were using them in school lunches, so I was not new to the product at all. You could say we are early adopters around here.

Back to horse riding and Charlotte starving. I honestly think its part of it is her excuse to get me to stop somewhere but this week when Chris took the kids to the farm, I put them out the door with a few packages of DOLE Fruit Squish’ems! At only 60 calories, GMO Free, Gluten Free, and no high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors, it’s something we can both agree on.

 DOLE Fruit Squish’ems

You may remember I used them earlier this week in a bread recipe I made (They have 3 great flavors – Apple, Apple Mixed Berry and Apple Strawberry)

Recipe for Easy Apple Banana bread without Crushing up apples..here is how.

but they also work for great for on the go and sidelines for sports. And yes, the curbed her ” I am starving and may die” attitude on Saturday.

In all fairness, it takes a lot of energy to keep up with the “guns” on her.

  1. My kids don’t play sports right now, but they definitely play hard outside riding their bikes, climbing trees, and running around a lot. I love the idea of these snacks. I haven’t tried them yet, but they look really good.

By the way, your daughter being into horses will keep her out of a lot of trouble in her life. Us horse people are a breed of our own. Once its in our blood it will always be there whether we own one or not. She looks so good up there.

  2. My kids don’t currently play any sports but they are constantly on the go. We always have our snack drawer packed with pouches and I haven’t tried the dole ones but I will be on the lookout for them!

  3. Wow! This is fantastic! And I completely agree that being outside all day/night is wonderful, but by the end, you are exhausted. I try to always have a basket full of snacks outside in the evenings because we tend to eat dinner much much later now that summer is here.

  4. I love that Chris is such a good sport and lets you share his photos. Maybe if I baked such yummy food afterwards, my hubby will let me also 🙂

  5. No still a little young. I may try my son in soccer next year, but I hate the practice schedules for these kids’ sports. Very demanding of families.

  6. So, I read this earlier knowing I was going to come back and comment on it tonight when I had the time, and when I was out getting cat litter, I thought of your blog … I know I know, it’s strange, but you have 5 cats and recently posted about cat litter, so the association was already stuck in my head, but hey, it reminded me to get litter and that was a good thing, so anyhow where was I? OH yeah, so I remembered you posted about the Squish’ems and I thought I’d look for them. Three grocery stores later and one quick stop at Walgreens and I can’t find them anywhere. However, I know SOMEONE around here sells them because one of the kids in Gaby’s class has them and she says they smell great and she’d like to try them. Plus, I’d like to try adding them to banana bread. I love apple banana bread but don’t like to have to get an entire jar of applesauce to use once. This works out so much better!

  7. Yum! My boys love those fruit squeeze pouches… and what a great idea to use it in a recipe! 🙂

My boys (8, 6, 4) don’t currently play any organized sports… although we are an active bunch. 🙂

  8. I buy Dole Squish ‘Ems. My youngest LOVES them. My oldest says they are ‘baby food’ (because of the packaging).

My kids don’t do any summer sports.

  9. That looks similar to my backyard yesterday afternoon, except your snacks look better. So fun!

  10. I haven’t seen these in our market yet, but I’ll be keeping an eye out for them. My kids are ravenous after swimming lessons and I like giving them something healthy to eat afterwards instead of a bag of chips!

  11. We’re doing a lot of golf and tennis this summer since we belong to a club nearby. Nathan wants to join the golf club when he starts high school, so the plan is that he plays golf just about every day this summer. That means I’ll be driving him over a lot. Lucie will be in a few tennis camps and I’ll be taking her over to swim, too.

  12. as always love your photos and easy-how-to-recipe. Will be on the look out for the dole squishems so we can try them and make that bread. Love that you made it look so simple. I’m sure I’ll be in competition with my two daughters to see who makes it first. How did she do on game day?

  13. My son (almost 10) plays football in the fall, basketball in the winter, and lacrosse in the spring and summer.

My daughter (7) plays soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter and soccer in the spring.

I’ll have to look for these. I know my son wouldn’t eat them from the pack like Charlotte is, but my daughter would! And I know they’d love the fruit bread!
