This recipe is in partnership with Mirum Shopper. Opinions are my own.
When it comes to making lunch or dinner, I hate to make the same thing twice. I feel like there are so many amazing flavor combinations in the world that you could eat something new every day to really experience food the way its meant to be experienced. And while I love traditional home cooked meals and we do have our staples, inviting something new and ‘strange’ onto our plates is just the right thing. Back to school is right around the corner and in our last week of summer, we are testing out some Hellman’s “strangewich” sandwiches, which include many unique and delicious recipes that will help you and your kids really love what they are eating today.
Experience avocado and sriracha, Let them Eat Cake, or even a crabby goddess sandwich to mix it up every day. No matter what sandwich you start making today, your kids will love to be involved in every way, so lets get started!

- 2 Tbsp. Hellmann’s® or Best Foods® Real Mayonnaise
- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 4 ounces sliced Gruyere cheese
DIRECTIONS
- Toss blueberries with sugar in small saucepan and cook over medium-high heat, mashing occasionally with a fork, until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Set aside.
- Evenly top 2 bread slices with cheese, then blueberry mixture. Top with remaining 2 bread slices. Spread outside of sandwiches evenly with Hellmann’s® or Best Foods® Real Mayonnaise.
- Cook sandwiches in large nonstick skillet over medium heat, turning once, until golden brown and cheese is melted, about 5 minutes.
Hellmann’s Real Squeeze, available at Kroger, makes it super easy for even your youngest to squeeze on mayo. Don’t skip this step because it crisps your bread up perfectly for a taste that will kick your sandwich into next gear.
