March National Kidney Disease Prevention Month & April Donate Life Month

by trisha haas

Did you know one in three Americans is at risk for chronic kidney disease?  Kidney disease causes more deaths than breast cancer or prostate cancer and is the 9th leading cause of death in the U.S. It is estimated that 30 million people in the U.S. are affected but 90% of those with kidney disease don’t even know they have it!

This month, take a few minutes to appreciate your kidneys.

Just in time for March National Kidney Disease Prevention Month and April National Donate Life Month, the Mendez National Institute of Transplantation Foundation has created the “Get the Facts! Get Checked! Get Healthy!” PSA which helps the public learn more about kidney disease prevention and the need for organ donation.

MNITF is a public non-profit organization that adheres to its mission of advancing the science and practice of organ transplantation and end-stage organ disease therapies through research, education, and innovation.
