First, preheat your oven to 400 degrees and line your baking sheets with your nonstick parchment paper.
This recipe will typically account for 2 baking sheets worth of cookies if you want to prep two pans at a time.
Now get out two bowls:
- add flour, baking soda and baking powder together and mix. Set this bowl aside.
- Now in a separate bowl, add butter and sour cream and beat well. In the same bowl, now add your sugar, eggs and vanilla and continue to beat. Once that is mixed up, add your flour/baking soda bowl to this bowl and mix just until its combined.
Use your 2 tablespoon scoop to get out the perfect size cookie mix.
The great thing about using a cookie scoop is that all your cookies will be the same size, ensuring proper baking of each one.
The issue that many people have with baking in the oven is that sometimes one thing is finished before the other and keeping it uniform from the get go will eliminate some of the problems.
Place your dough from your scoop into your hand and form into a ball.
Place your dough balls evenly on your baking sheets and then use a glass (dip bottom in water first so it doesn’t stick) to slightly flatten each cookie.
Bake 5-7 minutes so the center is set and pull from oven to finish.
Leave on hot pan for approximately one minute before removing and let cool.
Once fully cooled, add frosting and decorate.
