How to make Jello Popcorn
For about a year I have wanted to do a popcorn series. See my 3 year old loves popcorn. I cant get him to eat any real food but given the choice to about any snack he chooses popcorn. Not fancy popcorn like we made here, but so much popcorn that I hung up the bags and got a popcorn maker.
Now that I can make popcorn in under 2 minutes which allows us to flavor specifically to our tastes that day, my amazing friend Lynsey came over and helped me created some fun popcorn recipes to share with you. We literally dumped my entire baking and spice cabinet on my counter and started throwing things together till we created something delicious and fun.
So all that said, I wanted to share with you the first of our many popcorn recipes. Now keep in mind, we only made SAMPLE versions, with enough for about 2 people, and not huge big popcorn buckets full, so adjust your recipe as needed.
Sticky, ooey, green slime popcorn covered in eyeballs….
Truthfully this looks quite like Kermit the Frog as well, so if you were having a party that needed either one, I think its flexible. You can also easily change the flavors and colors we used to create a more custom “monster” to serve up at your next party or family movie night!

Green Jello Popcorn Recipe
- 1/2 bag of Lime Jello (gelatin powder, not pudding)
- approx 4 cups of popcorn, popped
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 tbsp corn syrup
- 4 tbsp butter
- eyeball candy
How do you make green popcorn?
Melt together your butter and corn syrup microwave for approx 30-45 seconds until smooth. Then take out and add sugar and your Jello powder.
Mix. If you find that its too thick, you can microwave for approx 15 seconds at a time and stir.
Do not be afraid to add a little more corn syrup if you prefer, but beware its mega sweet!
The sugar and jello mix will still have a sugar consistency to it and be kinda grainy, which we like over here. It makes it look more like slime!
Pour over popcorn in a bowl and mix with spatula.
I found that I eventually had better luck mixing with my hands, but it could be hot so be careful if you go that route. While still sticky, add your eyeball candy.
Pour your popcorn mixture on parchment paper and put in freezer for 5 minutes.
Serve in a diy theatre snack box that holds all this and a drink for kids!
