Samsung Family Hub Fridge Review
Size
The fridge itself is very large. We are coming out of an older Samsung (which we loved and was still going great after 8 years, we donated it to a needy family!) and I found this one to be comparable in size, although a sleeker more beautiful and modern black than our last one. Regarding installation, they did have to take my door off the hinges of the house to bring it in.
Height: 71.85 inches
Width: 35.75 inches
Depth: 28.86 inches
Space Inside
The space inside is easy adjustable, which was one of the first things we did. We are high on produce, fruit and meat, so we set the fridge to reflect that. The best part of the Samsung Family Hub fridge for me is the FlexZone. The freezer is cut down to one side and the other half is flex. Our family uses a lot less frozen. We limit that to a weekly meat run, waffles, pizza, and frozen vegis. The drawers are totally adequate for our purposes, which leaves the other Flex Fridge for different options. In our family case, we are currently using it for Meat. That being said, you can easily and quickly adjust that as needed to Freeze, Soft Freeze, White Wine, Cheese and Vegis or Meat and Seafood. The filter is also easily accessible.
Practical Family Usage: I love that we are not stuck with just a fridge and a freezer. The FlexZone is a seriously wonderful idea that can be changed on the fly. I also love having that portion of the fridge available for the most used items in my home that the kids want to eat. Right on their level and less energy when they open it.
Screen
As an iPad household, it reminds me of my iPad Pro, but this 21.5” LED touchscreen is much, much larger. The screen accommodates quite a variety of apps on the front page and uses a finger scroll to go to the next page. The screen is bright and happy and can easily be customized in how it looks. I accidentally moved one of the boxes around simply by dragging so if you are used to any sort of technology at all (and presumably you are if you are interested in this fridge) you should get it right away.
Camera
3 built-in cameras take a picture of the inside of your fridge, allowing you to view your groceries while on-the-go; order groceries online from the built-in touchscreen and using the Groceries by Mastercard app.
The fridge can be set with a screens savor or to go dark when it’s sleeping. When you walk by, the camera will sense you and flick the screen back on to be ready for usage. You can also record messages (it has a microphone) that add onto the white board. One of the main features of the camera is that you can peer into the fridge without opening it. You may ask yousrelf why you would need to do that. Often people stand in front of the fridge looking for stuff. This can answer that question pretty quickly on what is in there without losing energy. But the real value in a camera is that it connects to the SmartHub app and allows you to peer via your phone. Finally answering the question “Do I have milk?” once and for all.
Practical Family Usage: Chris travels a lot so he can leave a good night message for the kids that they can play!
Family Hub
Allow your entire family to communicate seamlessly. Use the Sticki® app on the Family Hub to share your family’s calendars, photos and notes from your mobile device or directly on the Family Hub touchscreen.
The Family Hub connects to your StickiBoard app, which makes it easy to access at home or on the go. You can add family agendas and tasks easily (and color coded), as well as put up reminders, chores, and of course good old fashioned drawing. You can also order groceries, connect to the internet, or even mirror your Samsung Smart TV right from the hub. We actually have a Samsung Smart TV (the first one that ever came out) and it is not eligible for the TV mirroring, but once we need a new TV, I hope to connect the two.
- White board
- Calendar Connecting
- Drawing
- Ordering
- TV: Entertain in the kitchen and stream your favorite music with apps like Pandora and Tune-in Radio. Choose between listening through a built-in speaker or connect to wireless Bluetooth speakers elsewhere in your home. Plus, bring your TV to your kitchen by mirroring video content from your Samsung TV.
Practical Family Usage: I love pulling up recipes right on the fridge that do not require going into my computer room to access! I pull up what I am cooking and its right there as I am in the kitchen. Easy peasy! The kids love leaving me drawings on a daily (or hourly) basis.
Favorite Features
My favorite feature is actually having Pandora on the fridge. I love being able to scroll through music and I find that the speaker is exactly the right amount of volume. I used to struggle with connecting my iPhone to a bluetooth speaker and now I have tabled all of those. I never would have thought how much I truly enjoy this feature but its one you won’t be able to live without after you have it.
Practical Family Usage: Family Dance Party!
