At 38 years old and now 2 kids of my own, it’s a world away from “basic.” My house has 3 iPads, 2 iPhones, 2 computers, a laptop and honestly, even my fridge and TVs can get online.

It’s amazing but can also be a way that kids can easily get themselves into negative situations quickly. From uncensored online material that isn’t in line with your family values, violent news stories, and imagary, and even connecting with strangers, protecting your kids from all that is the internet can be a daunting task. On top of that, keeping your kids from spending their entire time connected period is its own issue. Currently, my kids can only connect on a device I hand them and on apps that I have downloaded. However, I have a 4 and 11 year old, so the time is coming quickly where our daughter will be requesting her own phone.
