Here comes the BIIIIIIIGGGGGG game and with it, tons of delicious food ideas! Nothing says football like chips, dip and our butts sitting on the couch for 4 hours straight, am I right? If that is what you plan on doing on Superbowl Sunday, I wanted to share two easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy dip ideas for you, recipes courtesy of Lipton, that will allow you to actually watch the game instead of standing over a hot stove.
What I love about dips is that they can be eaten pretty much any hour of the day (no, really), can be replenished in a hot minute, and the ingredients are inexpensive, especially at Walmart. So grab your sour cream, mayo, Lipton and all your fixins’ and let’s get started on creating the best game day ever!
Start with the , this is one dip that coats your chip in goodness and then covers it with mini salad. I use the lettuce and tomato to pretend I am actually eating something healthy…which is a lie that tastes so good!
If you love bacon as much as we do, consider trying my Baked Bacon Chips!
Slam Dunk BLT Dip
- 2 cups sour cream
- 1 cup Hellmann’s® or Best Foods® Real Mayonnaise
- 1 envelope Lipton® Recipe Secrets® Onion Soup Mix
- 8 slices bacon, crisp-cooked and crumbled
- 1 pint cherry tomatoes, cut into quarters
- 2 cups torn romaine lettuce or iceberg lettuce
- Toasted bread, chips, crackers or celery
Put sour cream, Hellmann’s® or Best Foods® Real Mayonnaise and Lipton® Recipe Secrets® Onion Soup Mix into a medium mixing bowl and stir until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. This part can be done ahead of time and refrigerated if you like!
Right before serving, take a 1/4 cup each of the tomatoes and the lettuce and set aside to use for garnish. Add the rest of the tomatoes and lettuce along with the bacon to the mixing bowl and stir them into the sour cream mixture until everything is well combined.
Spoon the dip into your favorite serving dish. Scatter the reserved tomatoes and lettuce on top and serve with toasted bread, chips, crackers, celery or anything else that catches your fancy!
Tip: Serve it on torn pieces of toasted bread to get the full BLT experience, dip-style!

Create some hummus as well for those chip snobs in your life. You know, like when your mom comes over and snubs her nose at the Triscuit box? Nothing says a posh football party like serving up a perfect bowl of Mediterranean Hummus surrounded by pita bread. And it’s not as hard as you may think- after all, hummus really is just about the bean. It flavors up nicely and the end result is hummus for days – or minutes depending on if you have the biggest TV out of all your friends.
Mediterranean Hummus
2 cans (15.5 oz. ea.) chick peas or garbanzos or garbanzos beans
1 envelope Lipton® Recipe Secrets® Onion Soup Mix
2/3 cup olive oil
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 Tbsp. fresh parsley leaves
1 Tbsp. sesame seeds, toasted (optional)
Process all ingredients until almost smooth in food processor or blender.
