Summer time means road trip time and when you have two kids like I do, you want to make each summer adventure as painless as possible! We have taken a few road trips with the kids and one thing I have learned time and time again is to make sure you have a plan (ie games, printables, and ideas for long rides) and two, never run out of snacks! The problem with snacks is that they can be messy in a car and hard to pack something fun.

Trail Mix Travelers

Create Custom Trail Mix tucked inside Gable Boxes for the perfect no mess travel box that doubles to decorate during road time.

In my car everyone likes their own snack.

There is nothing worse than having to pass a bag back and forth between two kids. If you find the “MOM ITS MY TURN” just as obnoxious as I do, solve it!

To create your Trail Mix Travelers, you will need the following:

 

• Mini Gable Box
• FLIPZ® Milk Chocolate Covered Pretzels
• Granola Bites (We like Honey Pecan)
• Peanuts, Walnuts, Dates (a combo of nuts)
• Dried Cranberries, Dried Raisons or Dried Cherries (all three!)

 

Fold up your Gable boxes.

I love these because they have a handle and are so super easy for kids to carry.

Not only does everyone feel special with their own little box, but it can also close up really easily preventing travel spills. Since you are creating a delicious trail mix, you can also reuse your boxes for more than one trip or dispose of in the recycling bin when done

 

Mix up your trail mix!

 

We used a variety of Honey Pecan granola Bites, Dried Cranberries, a combo of nuts, FLIPZ®, and some extra large sprinkles and dried marshmallows for color and excitement.

 

  Fill up your boxes and seal so they are ready to grab and go!
To decorate:

 

• Travel Stickers
• Crayons

 

Because these boxes can be written on, they also allow an extra element of fun! Kids (and adults) can decorate them before or during the trip with markers or crayons, making them extra special.
