Phoenyx said he is SO into St. Patrick’s Day crafting…especially if its going to include getting super messy every time! I wanted to create a fun craft that we could both do but mom (that’s me!) could get a little memento out of as well.
This craft is a how to inspiration to create Four Leaf Clover Magnets. And while they are technically St. Patrick’s Day related, I know I could use some good luck all year round, so I plan on leaving them up on the fridge.
Four Leaf Clover Magnets
To create this craft you will need
- Mini Canvas (come in 4 pack for $3.99)
- Magnets (also a pack)
- Green paint
- green permanent marker
First I wanted to let P loose on paint. I originally was showing him how to just dip his fingerprint, but that quickly got out of hand. Such is the life of a 2 year old.
I let him do a little practice one on his own. He did a pretty stellar abstract job.
Now that the initial excitement of paint was out of his system, I simply dipped his fingers into the paint and pressed out a fingerprint in 4 places like a clover. In the pictures below I demonstrated with my finger because its pretty darn near impossible to hold his finger, press on canvas AND take a shot.
The final pics, however, are all his!
I think his turned out even cuter than my big mommy fingers.
This is the one with his fingerprints!
I added a date to it for the future and his name on the back.
This was easy, fun, and great for ALL ages (even if they need a tad bit of help!). I saved a canvas for Charlotte to do when she gets home too. Do not forget to check out my first St. Patrick’s Day Printable (its free!) before you leave.

So cute! He looks like he is having so much fun with the paint.
I love those little canvases!! How cute!
I am so doing this with my two! They would be great as keepsakes, but as gifts for immediate family that would appreciate the effort….like grandparents.
I loved doing crafts with my son when he was younger. We still do some but not like we used to. I love this one because it’s so pretty in its simplicity… if that makes sense? 🙂
That’s a cute keepsake idea. We don’t usually keep magnets on the fridge. The kids always knock them down and now the dog will eat them.
I love getting kids involved in crafts and this little guy looks like he had a blast! Great craft!
Super cute and easy! But why oh why is he wearing a shirt for England while he makes an Irish craft!?!? Haha- just kidding. He can be a fan of both countries 😉
Another craft I can do, yay! This is fun even for my kids!
This is so cute! I’ve always loved making crafty magnets as they are the perfect memento.
What a cute idea! I have got to get my kids to make some of these, Im such a sucker for little fingerprints!
These are adorable. I think my grandkids could deal with this one! Pinning for my daughters to see!
what a great idea! I am obsessed with canvas but haven’t seen the mini’s…i’ll have to find them and do this project!
I LOVE this! I’m going to try it with my littles.
I really like these. Such a simple craft that will bring back memories 🙂
That’s adorable. I like the idea of getting it out of his system first! So cute.
I really love this idea! I love their little hands at this age! 🙂
Very cute and what a nice way to preserve their little size for memories. Love it and want to try it!
Ooh! This looks so easy and such a great keepsake! How old is your son? Mine is almost three and we might not get a very refined looking clover, but I’m sure he’d love it.
He is 2.5 , so I think 3 would be great. I actually gave my son one to play with on his own after teaching him how to dip his finger in and then I did the magnet myself w/ him by pressing his fingertip into the paint and putting on the canvas.
The one I did on my own wasnt as cute as the one we used his fingerprints for…I think kid sizes are much more clover like!
