Haunted House Shadow Box DIY, How to make a cereal box haunted house with FREE printable spooks

Before you get started on this craft, you will need a few things!

Haunted House Craft

Turn your empty cereal box into kid friendly Halloween Shadow box theater with the following items:

  • Cereal Box- I used my Fruity Pebbles box. It doesn’t matter which box you choose as you will be turning the box inside out.
  • Straight Razor or Crafting Knife
  • Scissors
  • Free Spooks Printable
  • Tape
  • string
  • wax paper
  • flashlight

To get started, you will first need to cut out both sides of your cereal box. As this is a haunted house craft, I wasn’t worried about perfect edges. I felt like the torn edges brought something fun to the shadow box.

Once your box is cut, you will need to lay down a flat piece of wax paper on the inside of the box (colored side) on the flap that will be facing forward. Securly tape all sides. Now turn box up and tape sides back together (both ends), leaving top flap open.

FREE HAUNTED HOUSE PRINTABLE

This spooky theater comes with a FREE Halloween Printable. DOWNLOAD ON THIS LINK. Once printed on card stock, cut out! Put your haunted house on the front of your box and tape down.

Once your printable is good and cut out, add a small piece of string to your spooky ghosts, spider, and frankenstein. Note: The cut out does not need to be perfect~

Creating your Shadow Box Haunted House

Place a flashlight BEHIND your cereal box theater and turn on.

Drop your characters down into the box. Moving the flashlight and characters around will supply different looks, which is super fun! I also add slits in the top of the box so the characters could hang unassisted (Shown below).
