When I made this recipe for the blog, I was surprised how great it was. So much so that I brought it to a neighbor and we both ate it for lunch! Then I recreated the recipe again for Thanksgiving and before people even left the line, they were adding a second scoop after a taste. It’s not a traditional stuffing recipe with the breading and pushed in a turkey, but it’s a fantastic one that is an alternative for those looking to really wow at the table and want something different this year.
Sausage Stuffing Thanksgiving Recipe
SAVORY SAUSAGE STUFFING
- 1/2 lb. sweet Italian sausage, removed from casings
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 1 package Knorr® Rice Sides™ – Chicken flavor (get this one!)
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds, toasted
Italian sausage stuffing recipe DIRECTIONS:
Cook sausage, onion and celery in 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, 3 minutes or until sausage is browned.
Stir in Knorr® Rice Sides™ – Chicken flavor and cook, stirring constantly about 1 minute or until golden brown.
Add water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes or until rice is tender.
Stir in almonds and, if desired, freshly ground black pepper.
