Turkey & Pickle Roll ups
Yay, Peeps! It’s 2 weeks into school and while I am so happy school is in session (seriously, where does the time go?) I am already less and less enthused about making school lunches and afternoon snacks. Now in my house I am not the only parent doing the school lunches. My husband gets up about an hour and a half before me and makes his, and our daughters, work and school lunch. Lucky me, right?
But when 8:30 rolls around and I think “oh crap, I better get something in the lunch box for preschool” it’s always a struggle to find something to add. While both of my kids are picky, Phoenyx has the added benefit of being a no-peanut zone so the traditional PB&J is completely out. Which is why I have invented this super easy, no bread “pickle roll-up” that combines a few of his favorite things and takes mere minutes to create.
In fact, this Turkey & Pickle roll up recipe is the perfect substitute for the traditional turkey sandwich and is so easy to make that Phoenyx (4 years old) is going to demonstrate exactly how to prepare!
Need the following to make your roll ups:
- Baby Dill pickles
- Cheese (we use American)
- Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise Squeeze Bottle
- Sliced Turkey
- Toothpicks
First lay out your sliced turkey, add a half a piece of cheese and your baby dill pickled.
Then use the easy Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise Squeeze Bottle to put a delicious layer of mayo.
As you can see, P likes to lick his fingers in between- who can blame him!
Now roll up your turkey and cheese around your pickle and skewer with two toothpicks.
Or three.
Four.
Five.
Whatever.
Then cut in middle and add to your lunch box.
Now this yummy alternative to a traditional sandwich is not just for lunch! This works in a pinch for an afternoon or after school snack as well. Need more packing lunch tricks? Try 10 tips for packing a lunch.
