Homemade Ice Cream Recipe
To create this colorful Unicorn Ice Cream
Making sure you are prepared with your ingredients before you start making your ice cream (ore recipe at all). I love to buy things on amazon market because I really hate dragging my kids to the store, but as long as you have everything you are set.
This homemade ice cream is a no churn, no bag option and you do NOT need an ice cream maker! While those are fun, this is a mix and freeze ice cream that you can customize for birthday parties or special treats.
- 2 cups whipping cream
- 1-14oz can sweetened condensed milk
- Wilton Color System (for beautiful bright colors, only thing I use here on MomDot)
- sprinkles
- cones <—these are pretty colored ones
STOP! Before you get started on your ice cream you need a few things!
The main thing I recommend is making sure you have the colors of your ice cream right. I personally use the Wilton Color System in every “unicorn” craft and recipe.
It doesn’t thin out my icing, my cakes, even my slime! The dyed colors come in a kit so you can make almost every color of the rainbow (and then some) plus its super bright without using a lot. Baking cabinet must!

How to make Homemade Ice Cream
In a large mixing bowl, beat the whipping cream until frothy peaks form (it should look like cool whip.)
Add in the sweetened condensed milk and stir until just combined.
Divide the ice cream mixture into 4 bowls and add 4 drops of food coloring to each – pink to one bowl, orange to one, etc.
Stir the food dye in until just combined, ensuring not to over mix.
Spoon the ice cream mixtures in a random pattern into a loaf pan.
You can layer if you like, but I like the pattern that came out of the random spots.
Sprinkle on a bunch of unicorn sprinkles, and then run a butter knife through the loaf pan to swirl it all together.
Place in the freezer until completely frozen, at least 6 hours.
It takes longer to freeze than when you use a machine
