Are you ready for the best cupcake you will EVER have? (well provided you love brownies and cake and I don’t think its a secret that I do!) If you haven’t ever had a cupcake with a brownie base or a cupcake filled brownie, you haven’t ever had a cupcake. Taking two of the best desserts on the planet and combining cupcake mix and brownie mix is not only fun, but like a party on your tongue.
The biggest issue with this cupcake brownie recipe is that we just kept eating them…and eating them….and lets just say I am totally considering the 3 day diet program just to get back on track. I finally had to throw the last plate of them out because it was impossible to say no. So to answer the age old question….can you combine brownie batter and cupcake batter in one? That answer is a resounding YES.
Brownie and Cake Mix Cupcakes
- 1 package brownie mix
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 package white cake mix
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 1 1/3 cups water
- 3 egg whites
First thing you want to do is preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Next you can line your cupcake pans with your cupcake liners.
Now you mix the brownie mix, your 2 eggs, the 1/2 cup canola oil, and the 1/4 cup water in a bowl. Do not overmix!
In a separate bowl add your cake mix, 2 tablespoons canola oil, 1 1/3 cup water, and 3 egg whites and mix for about 2 minutes until the lumps are gone.
Now you have a few choices- you can put brownie batter on bottom about 1/3rd full and then add the cake batter over the top OR you can add a small sliver of cake batter, then brownie and then cake batter again so its on the inside. Do not overfill your cupcake tins.
Bake for approximately 20 minutes.
