Copycat McDonald’s Nuggets Instructions

Before you get started on your nuggets, you’ll first need to gather your equipment. For this recipe, gather:

  • Food processor (like this one)
  • Shallow bowl or dish
  • Parchment paper
  • Baking sheet
  • Large bowl
  • Whisk
  • Large pot (for frying)

1.) Process Chicken & Form Nuggets

Place the diced chicken, salt, and 1 egg in your food processor and pulse until it looks like a thick paste.

Then, put the corn starch in a shallow bowl or dish. Wet your hands with water, grab some of the chicken, and mold into a nugget. Coat the nugget in the corn starch and place it on the parchment paper baking sheet. Repeat until all of the chicken has been made into nuggets.

2.) Bread the Nuggets & Freeze

Whisk together the remaining egg, water, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, mustard, and flour in a large bowl. Dip each nugget in the batter and place it back on the baking sheet. Repeat until all of the nuggets have been dipped in the breading batter.

Put the baking sheet in the freezer for 1 hour to harden.

3.) Fry Nuggets

In a large pot, heat your frying oil to 350 degrees. Deep fry the nuggets for 5 minutes, remove and drain on a paper towel, and then deep fry the same nuggets for another 5 minutes. This will prevent the breading from burning as the inside cooks.

Drain on paper towels and serve.
