Layered Candy Corn Rice Krispies Treats

It seems a bit crazy to think Halloween is coming up. I could have sworn it was still in July and we were worried about school starting-  and here we are ready to dive into winter. I’d like to say this loss of time is because we’ve been extra busy but the reality is, life is just as normal as usual and ticking away faster than ever.

Despite time flying right on by, I’m still enjoying time with the kids on the weekends and getting them in the kitchen with me.

I don’t particularly love when it rains for days on end but now that they’d rather be outside playing with friends than spending time with their mommy, I welcome the soggy days. It gives me a chance to spend some one on one time with them and cook up goodies like these candy corn rice krispies treats. Flavor wise, they’re not different than an original rice krispies treat but they have layers of pretty colors to make them look like candy corn.

Layered Candy Corn Rice Krispies Treats in multi colors of orange, yellow and white

White Layer

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-1/4 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Orange Layer

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • orange food coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-1/4 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Yellow Layer

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • yellow food coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-1/4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  1. Spray an 8 x 8 baking pan with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  2. Heat a pot over medium heat and melt the butter for the white layer. Once butter has melted, add marshmallows and stir until they have completely melted.
  3. Remove from heat, add vanilla, stir, add cereal and stir until combined.
  4. Coat your hands with shortening (to prevent sticking) and spread the treats in a single, even layer in the baking pan.
  5. Repeat the same steps for the additional layers using the same pot until you have a layer of white, orange and yellow cereal treats.
  6. Cool for 1 hour before cutting into squares.
