This past week I was lucky enough to be sent a new Minnie in Paris book. Its beautiful, bright, and all things adorable, pink and cutesy! Obviously, I loved it. And as an inspiration of that book I decided to add to my ever growing hair bow holder DIY instructions with yet another one, a DIY Paris Theme Hairbow holder!
I am, without a doubt, going to show you how to make the easiest hairbow holder you have ever made. Now in the past I have made other bowholders but all of them had to be hung on the wall. From the detailed tutu hair bow holder to the Christmas Bow holder extravaganza, this one is unlike my past holders.
This one stands on a counter or dresser and you can purchase most of the items premade which really ups the quality of the look for inexperienced crafters. You can also create it in under 10 minutes, making it the perfect gift or decor.
DIY Paris Hairbow Holder (Stand up Version!)
You need
- Cardboard Wine carrier – You can get these at the craft store for a few dollars
- 3 drawer knobs
- Enough fabric to cover the carrier. I generally purchase in half yard increments just in case I mess something up
- hot glue/glue gun
- 1/2 inch gross grain ribbon
- screw driver
First you will need to remove the handle from your wine carrier. Mine was easy to snip off.
Now you will need to create the holes where your drawer knobs will go into. Do this before you cover your wine holder in fabric. We used a screw driver to match up the size of the knob and the hole and just pushed through. Easy Peasy..although I did ask my spouse to do it. He was able to line the holes up very easily while using the fabric as a makeshift ruler. I found some really cute drawer knobs at Hobby Lobby for almost any theme!
Lay out and trim your fabric so you have just enough to cover the round holder. Fold sides over like you would wrapping paper and hot glue down. Then roll the wine holder in fabric with the seam on the back. Then I felt for the holes we had prepunched and put in the knobs. You should have a washer on the front and nut on the inside of the knob to secure it.
On the open end of the holder you can tuck the fabric inside and hot glue down. On the other end I gathered and tied with a bow.
Take your gross grain ribbon and measure the length of the holder when standing and hot glue just the top and the bottom down. This will leave the ribbon lose along the side so you can use it to snip your hair bows too.
Done! Just add your pony tail holders to the knobs, clip ribbons on the sides.
Depending on the size of the holder you can also add headbands right to it! Cute, right? Depending on the size of your win holder, you can also easy add your headbands right on it as well!
About Minnie In Paris
The book is filled with bright pages and with one of Disneys most wonderful and iconic characters- Minnie. The gist is that she travels to Paris for the infamous fashion shows and tours Europe in a page to page adventure, stopping at some of the highlights that I did in my real life tour through countries many years ago!
Fashion is Minnie’s passion! And, as a result, she’s been invited to show her bows on the runways of Paris!
At the airport, Minnie is so busy taking care of her nieces, Millie and Melody, that she accidentally switches suitcases with Penguini the magician–and finds that his suitcase is full of bunnies instead of bows! Minnie must round up the mischievous little bunnies, find Penguini, and make her bows in time for the show. Will she make it?
Readers are treated to a stunning tour of famous Parisian locations, from the Louvre to Tuilleries Gardens to the Eiffel tower, to a classic Parisian bistro—all in search of Penguini’s bunnies.
Of course you can find Minnie and follow along on all the adventures in the places you hang out the most, like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
Additionally I have created a pinterest friendly image so you have it ready to pin to your boards:
