OOH, its this week! Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving! If you are like me the Turkey is on serious defrost mode and all your groceries are piling up on the counter begging to be made. I also must admit that I am on “dinner avoidance mode” since I know I will be cooking for 2 days straight, so I am struggling to provide good food to everyone here till then.
They can survive on cereal and waffles, right??
But as thanksgiving is coming to an end that means I have to seriously cram in the last of my crafting for you and it makes me sad. I think crafting up Turkeys is one of the most fun things I do all year. Their little faces are so animated and cute! You cant get that same cute on a snowman. Well- maybe. I’ll consider that a challenge. In any case, BAM, check out my turkey placeholder!
I made this up the last week when the internet died. We have hotspot (a blogger with only hotspot, OMG! I KNOW!) and I was forced to do something more creative with my time. I just broke out the glue gun, the fake leaves and woot woot! I actually really loved how this worked out and while it was more of paper plate fun than anything, I made it a table placeholder by strapping my name to Mr. Turkey.
Turkey Paper Plate Table Placeholders
Here we go!
- Glue gun/glue
- Fake Leave ( I got these at Hobby Lobby, 80% off!!)
- My Turkey Body (free PDF template download here)
- Card stock
My only real advice is to lay your leaves out prior to gluing. I was trying to find sorta matchy match ones in colors and sizing and it helped to create FIRST and glue second. Once I had a pattern I was happy with, I hot glued to a paper plate, added my turkey body, gave him some eyes, beak and some hands holding my name and done!
Took me a whopping 10 minutes of my no internet time.
Of course if you have big beautiful leaves in your yard, you could use real ones too! I did a Fall Leaf Turkey Craft using real leaves here if you want to check out the look.
See my Photo Tutorial Below!
You could also tuck in your silverware.
Or you can stand him up!
Either way, totally cute. Btw, I made the punch out of my name with my Silhouette. That thing is so cool. It does the work for me. If you do not have one, just do it the old fashioned way by cutting out a heart, writing your name and sticking to your turkey. That works too!
